Thanksgiving & LFEC 8th Anniversary

Thanksgiving on 20th January 2019 (8th Anniversary)
We thank the Lord for sustaining us these 8 years and for giving the opportunity to be an extended Hand of His to reach out to the many people that came troubled and highly stressed with some even attempting to end their lives because of the surmounting troubles they are experiencing and they, at that time, could see no solutions to their growing problems.

In the last 6 years when the Lord brought Adullam Life Counselling into our fellowship, together we had helped thousands of people as a social concern and contribution to the society of Singapore with people coming in helpless are now in good emotional and spiritual condition. Many are in the midst of clearing their troubles, and they have a Support Group that understands and pray for their theirs and their family well-being.

When we first started on 16th January 2011, we would never had thought that the Lord could use us in such a tremendous way. PRAISE BE TO HIM ONLY! As a church, like Bill Hybels had stated, we are “The Hope of the World”, we were just merely trying to follow our hearts because of what Christ our Saviour had impressed upon us. Indeed Isaiah 55:8-9 said it correctly: His Ways are higher than our ways.

As the pastor that started the church in 2011 at the age of 52, my runway to 60 years old (8 years) had completed in 2019 and now we are moving into another phrase of LFE Church’s life. The Lord lead us as we create structures to hold up the ministries and work the Lord had given us to do.

Once again, we praise the Lord for working in our midst in the past 8 years! Words alone cannot express our gratefulness to the Lord for touching peoples’ lives because He loves us!

The Preaching Text is taken from

From this text, we learned that there is good news and bad news for humanity.
The question that was posted to the congregation was which news do we want to hear first?

Good or Bad? and the response was bad news first!

We start with the Bad News first.

  1. Since God did not spare His Son and sent Him to the Cross to die for all our sins, would He spare anyone whose sins are not removed by the Way He had provided? The answer is NO!

Listen to John 12:27-33 (NLT)

27 “Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! 28 Father, bring glory to your name.”

Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, “I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again.” 29 When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.

30 Then Jesus told them, “The voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. 32 And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” 33 He said this to indicate how he was going to die.

  1. God judge us for what we continue to do in sin. Look at the story of the defeat at Ai and the Sin of Achan in Joshua 7:1-26. God judged the nation because of one person’s disobedience.

Often, we think that because God is merciful, He would be so kind as to over look our wrong even when it is sinful or wilful. In our foolish thinking, we thought that He would never “lift” His hands against us because He is a loving God. We are dead wrong as He shows His anger from heaven.

God’s anger is against the truth about Him being suppressed by sinful and wicked people. Just look around and you cannot deny that the world we lived in is beautiful. Today with the technologies available, we are even able to see the sea creatures in the deep ocean from the comfort of our living room without running the risk of being bitten by the sharks. What a wonderful world we live in and how can we deny that Someone GREAT had created it and it comes from the Big Bang. Can a famous adult claim that he just appears without being born through his mother. We would have treated that person as arrogant because he is famous and foolish as it is not possible that he would just appear.

Look at this Scripture in verse 20

Instead of looking up to the Creator, sinful and wicked people chose to think up foolish ideas of how God looks like and they chose created items and claimed that these are gods. Look around and we would see what Paul wrote about in the 1st Century is still happening in our 21st Century.

For some people, when they get to do what they want as they so desire regardless if what they do are right or wrong, moral or immoral, they think its freedom. If we let a 3-year-old boy do whatever he wants, the household will be in chaos. There must be rules, guidelines, orders, and etc and when a earthly father gives up to discipline, the child will grow up being very inward and becomes a selfish brat. We can see many examples in human lives. When God abandon us, it is only for a short time and a day of accounting of what we do will come. It doesn’t matter how intelligent one is or how high one’s IQ is for everyone will be judge for the good or bad done in our lifetime.

God initiated the process to make us right with Him. Because of His Love, Mercy and Grace, He sent His One and Only Son so that through Him, our relationship may be established, and we become His family. What an awesome God we serve.

Listen to the cry of Jesus on the Cross when God shows His wrath with the sacrifice of His Son. We can never understand this fully on this side of Heaven but when we look at the act of God, we must truly appreciate God for what He had done for humanity.

Not only had Christ paid the price, God raise Him from the dead and He is coming back again and this time as the Ruler and the Judge rewarding each person according to our deeds.

We look forward to Christ coming! let’s prepare to meet with our Coming Judge! As a church, we had seen the workings of the Holy Spirit where in His Presence during the time of Praise and Worship peoples’ lives are touched. People’s emotions are stirred and God performed deliverance and miracles in the lives of those present.
